Day 1Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport for your climb

Hey there! So, you’re about to embark on an epic Kilimanjaro adventure, huh? That’s awesome! Let me give you the lowdown on what to expect when you first arrive.

You step off the plane at Kilimanjaro International Airport, probably a bit tired but buzzing with excitement. No need to worry about finding your way around because our super friendly Tanzania Specialist guide will be right there waiting for you. They’ll greet you with a big smile and whisk you off to your hotel. Once you’re there, you can kick back, relax, and shake off that jet lag.

Now, before you start your climb, you’ll get to meet up with your guide. This is where the real fun begins! They’ll sit down with you and spill all the secrets to conquering Kili. We’re talking insider tips on what to wear (hint: layers are your best friend), what to pack (don’t forget those comfy socks!), and all sorts of tricks to make your climb as smooth as possible. Trust me, these guides know their stuff, so soak up every bit of advice they give you.

Remember, this is your adventure, and we’re here to make sure you’re all set to make the most of it. So, get ready for an incredible journey up Africa’s highest peak!

Day 2Lemosho Route (1/8) | Lemosho Gate (2,100 m/6,889 ft) - Big Tree Camp (2,780 m/9,120 ft)

You’re kicking off your Kilimanjaro adventure, huh? That’s awesome! Your guide’s gonna swing by your hotel in the morning to whisk you off to Londorossi Gate. It’s on the west side, and that’s where all the magic starts!

Once you get there, you’ll need to do a bit of paperwork – you know, registration and getting your climbing permit sorted. But don’t worry, it’s not too bad. After that, you’re off to your first stop: Big Tree Camp. Pretty cool name, right?

Oh, and here’s a pro tip: pack your rain jacket! You’ll be trekking through a bit of rainforest, and you don’t want to get soaked. Trust me on this one.

After you’ve had some lunch and caught your breath, you’re in for a treat. You’ll get to do a little acclimatization hike up to Shira 1 Camp. It’s about 300 meters higher, so it’ll give your body a taste of what’s to come. But don’t stress – you’ll head back down to Big Tree Camp for dinner and a good night’s rest.

Day 3 Lemosho Route (2/8) | Big Tree Camp (2,780 m/9,120 ft) - Shira 1 Camp (3,510 m/11,515 ft)

Rise and shine, folks! We’re kicking off the day bright and early with a hearty breakfast before we start our climb. Get ready for some jaw-dropping views as we make our way up to 3,505 meters. Trust me, when you catch that first glimpse of the Shira Plateau and Kibo Volcano, you’ll be glad you dragged yourself out of bed.

Don’t worry, though – the trek to Shira 1 camp isn’t too brutal. We’re talking about a 5-6 hour hike, which is perfect for getting your body used to the altitude. And let’s be real, that’s crucial if you want to make it to the top without feeling like you’ve been hit by a truck.

Once we reach camp, it’s chow time! After lunch, you’ve got options. Feel free to crash in your tent if you’re wiped out, or take a stroll around if you’re feeling adventurous. Either way, you’re in for an incredible experience surrounded by some of the most stunning scenery you’ll ever see.

Day 4Lemosho Route (3/8) | Shira 1 Camp (3,510 m/11,515 ft) - Shira 2 Camp (3,890 m/12,762 ft)

Hey there, fellow adventurers! Today’s trek is gonna be a real treat – we’re heading from Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp. Don’t sweat it, though – this walk’s a piece of cake! As you climb higher, you’ll get to soak in some jaw-dropping views and check out Kilimanjaro’s one-of-a-kind plant life. Trust me, it’s gonna blow your mind!

Now, if Lady Luck’s on our side and the sky’s clear, Shira 2 Camp’s gonna give you a killer view of Mount Meru. Fun fact: it’s Africa’s fifth highest peak! How cool is that?

After we’ve filled our bellies with lunch, we’re gonna kick it up a notch with a little acclimatization walk to Lava Tower Camp. It’s only about 200 meters higher, but lemme tell ya, it’s gonna make a world of difference. This little detour? It’s our secret weapon to boost our chances of conquering that summit and keeping that nasty altitude sickness at bay.

So lace up those boots, grab your water bottle, and let’s hit the trail! This is gonna be one epic day you won’t forget!

Day 5Lemosho Route (4/8) | Shira 2 Camp (3,890 m/12,762 ft) - Lava Tower (4,630 m/15,190 ft) - Barranco Camp (3,950 m/12,959 ft)

The Lemosho route hooks up with the Machame route. Pretty cool, right? We’re gonna hike from Shira Camp 2 to this awesome spot called Lava Tower. It’s way up there at 4,630 meters – that’s like 15,190 feet!

Now, I’m not gonna lie, this part of the climb is a bit of a rollercoaster. Lots of ups and downs, you know? But man, the views along the way are just killer. It’s totally worth it.

Fair warning though, it’s a long hike and you might start feeling a bit off because of the altitude. No shame in that – happens to the best of us. The key is to find your groove, you know? Take it at your own pace and let your body get used to being up so high.

After we grab some lunch, we’re heading down to Barranco Camp. It’s right at the foot of this big ol’ wall called Barranco Wall. Trust me, when you see it, you’ll know why they call it that!

So yeah, that’s the plan for today. Exciting stuff, right? Can’t wait to hit the trail and see what adventures we’ll have!

Day 6Lemosho Route (5/8) | Barranco Camp (3,950 m/12,959 ft) - Karanga Camp (4,040 m/13,254 ft)

After breakfast you depart from Barranco Camp to the Barranco Wall. For many people, this is their favorite part of the climb. Once at the top of the Barranco Wall, you have a spectacular view of the Kibo Volcano and Mount Meru.

Afterwards, a more difficult hike starts to reach Karanga Camp. This route has many ascents and descents, so keep the right pace. You have lunch at the camp and after a rest you can take an acclimatization hike in the direction of Barafu Camp.

Day 7Lemosho Route (6/8) | Karanga Camp (4,040 m/13,254 ft) - Barafu Camp (4,645 m/15,239 ft)

Today, you hike to Barafu Camp (once breakfast is done, of course!). This camp is the starting point for your ascent to Uhuru Peak – the top of Kilimanjaro! You arrive at the camp around lunch. Have a rest and after you regain your strength, take an acclimatization hike to Kosovo Summit Camp (4,870 m) and back. Enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and experience the thrill of high-altitude camping as you prepare for the final push to the summit around midnight.

Day 8Lemosho Route (7/8) | Barafu Camp (4,645 m/15,239 ft) - Uhuru Peak (5,895 m/19,340 ft) - Millenium Camp (3,820 m/12,532 ft)

The big day is finally here! Around midnight, the ascent from Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak begins. The climb leads over good trails and the most challenging part is the high altitude. Once you reach the summit you can enjoy a beautiful sunrise, which is quite impressive at this height! After a quick celebration at the top (because, hey, you just conquered Kilimanjaro!), you start a slow descent to the scenic Millennium Camp.

Day 9Lemosho Route (8/8) | Millennium Camp (3,820 m/12,532 ft) - Mweka Gate (1,640 m/5,380 ft) - Hotel

The Millenium camp is located in a tropical rainforest. When you wake up today, you feel a sense of relief from the reduced altitude and satisfaction from reaching the summit. After breakfast, you take an easy walk to Mweka Gate, the exit of Kilimanjaro National Park.

Your driver then brings you back to the hotel for a well-deserved rest. Unforgettable memories, breathtaking views, and a true sense of accomplishment await and will stay forever with you!

Day 10 & 11Flight home from Kilimanjaro International Airport after the climb
